Ambiances Magnétiques at Suoni Per Il Popolo 2008!Quick reminder: The Suoni Per Il Popolo festival is held in Montréal throughout the month of June and features concerts every evening at La Sala Rossa as well as at Casa del Popolo. Letarte and Rodéoscopique same day, same place… Geneviève Letarte, will launch her 3rd album entitled Âmes soûles and will offer a short performance on May 9, 2007 at Divan orange in Montréal. Âmes soûles gathers intimate songs that seduces with their yeasty melodies, Latin rhythm and their poetic-country tone. Later that evening, Rodéoscopique (Mélanie Auclair, Antoine Berthiaume, Guido Del Fabbro, Philippe Lauzier, Pierre-Yves Martel, Stefan Schneider) will give a show of experimental folk country music. Spin with Joane Hétu!Joane Hétu will present her Filature project in which she mixes rock, minimalist music, improvisations with visual and scenic components. This lively artist will be on stage with the Ensemble SuperMusique (Mélanie Auclair, Guido Del Fabbro, Jean Derome, Claire Gignac, Normand Guilbeault, Diane Labrosse, Danielle Palardy Roger, Pierre Tanguay, Némo Venba), and visual artist Pierre Hébert. This concert will be presented on May 21, 2007 at cinéma Laurier in Victoriaville as part of the Festival international de musique actuelle de Victoriaville (23 concerts of “musique actuelle” - detailed schedule on their website). Until then, you may want to go by a virtual roundabout way and listen to some online audio clips of her album Nouvelle musique d’hiver.

Auclair’s Theatre of Small Noises

Filature, Hétu’s Sound Theatre Premieres in MontréalSaxophonist/vocalist Joane Hétu’s latest work — Filature, a “sound theatre” in three acts — will be presented at Usine C (Montréal) on March 16, 17, and 18, 2006. Filature is a musical allegory on the materials weavers use: warp, weft and pattern. Hétu unveils creative fabrics of sound and visuals, where music, dance, video art and lighting intertwine.
