CD Launch and Canadian Tour by Cartier Pierre Cartier will launch his new album, Chansons de la belle espérance, on June 25, 2006 at O Patro Vys during L’OFF Festival de Jazz de Montréal. Cartier will then travel with his new songs at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival on June 27, at the Yardbird Jazz Festival in Edmonton on July 1, at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival on July 2, and lastly at the Atlantic Jazz Festival in Halifax on July 19.

12th Annual Guelph Jazz FestivalMany musicians and ensembles from the Ambiances Magnétiques label will take part in the 12th Guelph Jazz Festival (Ontario), to be held from September 7 - 11, 2005. Acts featured in this forthcoming edition include L’Ensemble Pierre Labbé on September 7; the trio of André Duchesne, Jean René and Pierre Tanguay as well as the Pierre Cartier Ensemble on September 8; Lori Freedman solo and the trio Évidence on September 9; and finally, the Fanfare Pourpour will parade through the city on September 10.

Nominations aplenty for DAME!It is the time of the year where award nominations are revealed and DAME musicians are harvesting plenty. Pierre Cartier («Dis, Blaise…»), Tim Brady (Unison Rituals), the Frith, Derome, Tanguay, Boisen quartet (All is bright…) and Lori Freedman (À un moment donné) all received nominations to the Opus prizes, handed out yearly by the Conseil québécois de la musique (Québec Musical Council, CQM). Moreover, Freedman (clarinet), Pierre Tanguay (percussions), Tom Walsh (trombone) and Jean Derome (musician of the year) are also nominated for the National Jazz Awards. The public is invited to vote online [now closed].

Live DAME musiciansMany DAME musician will be peforming this summer. First, the Fanfare Pourpour will take part in Saint-Fortunat’s incredible music festival, June 21 and 22. Then, at the Festival international de jazz de Montréal, L’Orkestre des pas perdus will play outside from July 3 to 7.
