[5216]

Alexandre Grogg has studied improvisation with Lorraine Desmarais in Montréal and Ran Blake in Boston. In addition to co-leading the quintet Ensemble en pièces, with whom he has recorded the album Jardin d'exil, Alexandre has worked with various artists, including singer Sonia Johnson, bassist Normand Guilbeault, and multi-instrumentalist Michel Côté. He has also performed once with legendary trumpeter Bill Dixon.

Mostly inspired by literature and consistently feeling imbues with the desire to perfect his musical language, Alexandre focuses on exploring low and slender timbres, mirrors of the wide frozen spaces that fill his childhood memories, as one single sound embodying the abstruse line from which the equivocal fog of humanity's aspirations come out.
