Declining Species of LabrosseComposer and sampler virtuoso, explorer of short-lived lists and gifted displayer of audio states of mind, Diane Labrosse is now focusing on the last breath of obsolete tools, so we can hear their final utterances. A dilettante anthropologist searching for ancient sonic traces - those left by these endangered species, Diane Labrosse will be studying appliances on the brink of extinction: percolator, typewriter, rotating-dial telephone, spring-winded alarm clock… and she will be revealing the poetry of these declining objects. DAME Artists in RimouskiMany DAME artists will participate to the third Rencontres de musiques spontanées (RMS3), held in Rimouski (Québec) from December 1 - 3, 2006. On December 1, Catherine S Massicotte, Brigitte Lacasse and Éric Normand will present their project Minus 3 followed by Érick d’Orion and his latest audio creation Téléphonie cellulaire. On December 2 a second double feature will be presented, this time with Les gars trans (a band featuring Frank Martel, Robin Servant and Éric Normand) and Cabina obscura featuring John Blouin and Bernard Falaise. Sunday, December 3 will see the launch of a new CD, 10 situations précaires, by James Darling, Lori Freedman, Gabriel Dionne, and Diane Labrosse. Filature, Hétu’s Sound Theatre Premieres in MontréalSaxophonist/vocalist Joane Hétu’s latest work — Filature, a “sound theatre” in three acts — will be presented at Usine C (Montréal) on March 16, 17, and 18, 2006. Out of print since 1990, “Contes de l’amère loi” finally reissued
“A rushing brutal liberation from language and cadence…” (The Wire, UK) In the 80’s, Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse and Danielle Palardy Roger sprung out of the Quebec musical landscape and seduced the world with their vitality, ardour and originality. One of the first Ambiances Magnétiques productions, the lp Les contes de l’amère loi (Tales of a Bitter Law) was out of print for more than a decade. This CD reissue is a wonderful occasion to discover again the work of these three women who help built, as musicians and producers, new music in Québec.

A new generation of “Parasites”
After the success of their last CD together, Île bizarre (with percussionist Ikue Mori), Diane Labrosse (sampler) and Martin Tétreault (turntable), offers us Parasites, where electronic noises and concretes sounds meets and fights to form yet unheard-of textures.
