Graduated from the Conservatoire de Montréal, where he was a pupil under Gilles Tremblay, Claude Vivier went to Europe, with grants from the Canada Council, to work, amongst others, with Karlheinz Stockhausen and Paul Méfano. The many travels he did afar has marked his work deeply. The mystery wich shrouds his personality, added to the extreme quality of his production, ensure a popular fascination to Vivier as well as a great place in Canadian music’s history.
