Our Artists at Up to Your Ears, MontréalThe Up to Your Ears festival will take place on August 9 to 19, 2007 at the Christ Church Cathedral in Montréal. Amongst the guest artists invited to celebrate contemporary music in its written, improvised, electroacoustic, “actuelle,” and jazz forms, are Lori Freedman, Quatuor Bozzini, Ga Ma Ra trio (Ganesh Anandan, Malcolm Goldstein, Rainer Wiens), and Quintette Mont-Royal. New East-West Meeting with Anandan, Tétreault, Wiens…MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) presents inspiring East-West meetings on March 11 and 12, 2005 by bringing together talented musicians with an unusual variety of instruments in a never-before-experienced improvisational combo. Ganesh Anandan (percussions and voice), Ziya Tabassian (percussions), Martin Tétreault (turntables), Rainer Wiens (prepared guitar) and Kiya Tabassian (setar) each will draw from the strong tradition of musical improvisation within their culture to create a new and unusual sound.
