Composer, performer and improviser René Lussier is one of the leading figures in Canadian “musique actuelle.” In 1989 he received the Paul Gilson Award for Le trésor de la langue, released on Ambiances Magnétiques label and later presented in concert in Canada and abroad. Lussier now presents “Le corps de l’ouvrage” (Body of Work), a series of instrumental pieces taken from film scores, special projects or from his most recent writings. This music arranged for small and large acoustic ensembles, truly reflects the very personnal approach so typical to Lussier. The twelve pieces on this CD yield a great instrumental music featuring the melodic daxophone and screaming sax as soloists, sustained by a strong energetic rhythmic section. A wonderful album you should investigate now! Available via renelussier.com.
