Bozzini Quartet won the Opus prize in the category “Album of the year — modern and contemporary musics” for the CD Portrait Montréal.
Many actuellecd.com artists are nominated for the 9th Opus prizes, awarded since 1996 by the Conseil québécois de la musique. The concert Palimpseste d’orchestre, revisiting the musics of Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse and Danielle Palardy Roger is nominated for “Concert of the year — actuelle and electroacoustic musics”. Playing Guitar: Symphony #1 by Tim Brady and Portrait Montréal by the Bozzini Quartet will face-off in the category “Album of the year — modern andcontemporary musics”. Canevas «+» by the Ensemble SuperMusique and Estrapade by morceaux_de_machines are both nominated for “Album of the year — actuelle and electroacoustic musics”. Finally, Mingus Erectus, by the Normand Guilbeault Ensemble is nominated for “Album of the year — jazz and world music”. Winners will be announced on January 22, 2006.
Following the release of their first album, Portrait Montréal, the Bozzini Quartet continues its concert series and will be playing in Montréal on April 7, 2005 at the Chapelle Saint-Louis, at Trois-Rivières’ Maison de la culture on April 21, 2005, back again in Montréal at La Chapelle on April 28 and 29, 2005 and lastly in Jonquière on May 21, 2005 for the Festival des musiques de création.
Portrait Montréal is the first album by Bozzini Quartet. A splendid release featuring compositions by Claude Vivier, Jean Lesage, Malcolm Goldstein, and Michael Oesterle.
